You Can Now Shop Directly From Google AI Mode
Google’s AI Mode in Search now lets users link and interact with select third‑party apps. The update starts with integrations for Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music. AI Mode continues to show AI‑generated answers at the top of results, but it now goes further by giving users direct ways to act on those answers.
Users can plan grocery runs in AI Mode and then send item lists straight into their Instacart cart- no more copy-pasting between search and shopping. They can ask AI Mode to create social posts or flyers and then open those requests in Canva as editable projects, which could be more customizable than editing something on Gemini. When it comes to YouTube Music, the integration lets users discover or start playlists from conversational prompts, but the utility of that new feature is harder to grasp.
All these settings and integrations can be turned on and off as per the user’s choice. The search giant says it hopes to add more partners over time. Google being Google, the rollout starts in the US, with future expansion depending on partners and regional support.
All in all, instead of only summarizing information, AI Mode can now help in different activities, all without leaving the Google AI Mode interface. How much of it will be necessary or needed is yet to be seen.
