Samsung Galaxy Users Report Battery Drain and Overheating After July 2026 Update

Samsung phones have lately been reporting battery drain and overheating issues after the July 2026 update. These complaints are mostly coming from Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra users. They are describing issues as faster-than-normal battery loss, warmer devices, and slower charging, all after installing the update.

Reports from Reddit, Samsung Community forums, and other discussion spaces are saying that the phones are losing about 5% to 7% of battery per hour even when the phone is kept idle most of the time during that period. One user said a device battery fell from 85% to 5% pretty quickly, and other users reported similar drops, as reported by PCMag.

From my personal experience, stuck background apps are a common culprit – Meta apps can be particularly annoying for this. The phone update keeps the processor running in the background, which causes the phone to heat up and use more power. Samsung has not publicly confirmed that explanation, and no official fix has appeared in the reports reviewed here.

But not all Samsung phones are affected by this issue. Most of the complaints are from the S24 and S25 Ultra users, so other Galaxy devices might not have the same issues. Even so, users who notice heat, standby drain, slower charging, etc., after the update should check battery usage, update apps, and if things seem fishy, contact Samsung support without further ado.
