Gwyneth Paltrow has responded to the backlash regarding her eating regimen.

Paltrow is no stranger to being criticized for her eating habits and wellness routines. In January, we covered the Goop founder and actress being slammed for posting a “detox salad” recipe to Instagram.

More recently, Paltrow drew criticism from the internet after sharing everything she eats in a day in an interview on “The Art Of Being Well With Dr. Cole” podcast.

In the interview, the “Sliding Doors” actress shared how she consumes bone broth and abides by an intermittent fasting plan and paleo diet-friendly foods. Over the coming days, social media began blasting Paltrow for her eating habits, with many users giving their reactions in TikToks.

In an Instagram Story Q&A session from March 17th, Paltrow gave a bit more insight into her seemingly light eating patterns; read on to find out how she responded to criticism!

Paltrow Outlined Her Daily Eating Habits In A Podcast Interview

The clip of Paltrow’s appearance on the aforementioned podcast began circulating after the podcast’s company, Dear Media, posted snippets of her interview.

The clip that caught the most heat was a question about her wellness routine.

In addition to sharing she eats dinner in the early evening, Paltrow tells Dr. Cole she “usually eats something about 12,” and that she makes sure to eat blood sugar-friendly in the morning in an effort not to “spike” it. Paltrow also reveals she tries to work out for an hour followed by time spent in the sauna. Her Paleo diet dinner plan revolves around vegetables in an effort to “support [her] detox.”

Many TikTokers filmed their reactions to the viral clip, in addition to pointing out the potential dangers of Paltrow’s diet and workout routine.

A TikTok user who disclosed she is a therapist for disordered eating shared her belief that “It should be illegal to put this out into the media.” She continues, “Because people like Gwyneth Paltrow have a huge following and massive platform that highly influence impressionable and vulnerable young and older people. People who start out on a bit of a health kick and end up with full-blown eating disorders…”

TikToker user @abbeyskitchen responded, “What I’m hearing is she eats nothing for breakfast, just black coffee until noon, then has bone broth for lunch which clocks in at a measly 40 calories per cup, then has a full hour of exercise….”

She goes on to share “An 18-hour fasting window is often far too long for healthy females to help support normal reproductive function.” She then points out how Paltrow has profited from the detox related media and products she and Goop have promoted in the past.

Here’s How Paltrow Responded To The Backlash

In a two-slide Instagram Story, Paltrow responds to the backlash she has received since the episode’s release.

“Okay, so let’s jump into this,” Paltrow begins, “So, I think it was important for everybody to know I was doing a podcast with my doctor, so this is a person I’ve been working with for over two years now to deal with some chronic stuff. And I have long COVID, so I have been… and the way it manifests for me is [through] very high levels of inflammation over time. I’ve been working with Dr. Cole to really focus on foods that aren’t inflammatory,” she continues. “So, lots of cooked vegetables, protein, healthy carbs to lower inflammation. Um, it’s been working really well, this is, you know, based on my medical results and extensive testing I’ve done overtime.”

In the second slide, Paltrow continues, “So just to finish, you know this was a transparent look at a conversation between me and my doctor. It’s not meant to be advice for anybody else. It’s really just what’s worked for me and it’s been very powerful and very positive. This is not to say that, you know,  I eat this way all day every day. And by the way, I eat far more than bone broth and vegetables,” she says, laughing. “I eat full meals, and I also have a lot of days of eating whatever I want, and eating french friends and whatever. My baseline really has been, to try to be healthy and to eat foods that will really calm the system down, so I hope that helps,” Paltrow concludes.

Paltrow’s episode of “The Art Of Being Well With Dr. Cole” is now streaming.
