Google Maps Unlocks Automatic Food Orders and Hotel Bookings With Agentic AI

Google Maps has upgraded its Ask Maps feature to help you with tasks like ordering food, booking hotel rooms, and finding local events. The app’s AI agents can assist with multi-step requests, but you still need to perform important steps like checking orders and making payments.

You can ask Maps to find a dish you’re craving at a nearby restaurant or along a specific route, and the tool will sift through options that comply with your dietary needs and restrictions. When the tool has located a restaurant that you approve of, it can add items to a cart; all you have left to do is pay.

On the hotel end, Ask Maps can look through local options, comparing prices, vacancies, ratings, exact locations, and amenities. But you still have to click through the partner website to book the stay.

Google also added Personal Intelligence, which uses your information from other Google services to produce more accurate and personalized responses. You may choose to connect Gmail, which lets Ask Maps use travel and reservation confirmations in answers about trips, flights, hotels, and so on. This feature is turned off by default, and integrations with Google Calendar and other apps will come later.

Google is bringing agentic food ordering, hotel and event discovery to the United States first, with Personal Intelligence, conversation memory, and the transit widget rolling out where Ask Maps is available.
