Hydra Overclocking Software Now Lets You Push RTX 50-Series Power Limits and Memory Speed
If you enjoy pushing your graphics card especially hard, the Hydra tool from Yuri “1usmus” Bubliy is now more capable than ever. VideoCardz reports that with the latest update, you can now push the power limit and memory frequencies of RTX 50 graphics cards much higher, opening up new potential daily-driver overclocks and more extreme solutions for benchmark runs.
Bubliy has released several high-profile overclocking tools over the years. They debuted the DRAM Calculator and ClockTuner for Ryzen apps for improving AMD CPU and memory performance, and HYDRA is a great tool for manual and GPU overclocking. With this latest update, it’s far more capable of improving RTX 50-series graphics cards, too.
RTX 50-series chips can typically max out at 34Gbps with the right power and cooling. With this latest update, Nvidia GPU overclockers can now push them to 36Gbps, potentially reaching bandwidth as high as 2.3TB/s on the RTX 5090. This is across the board, too, including the more-constrained RTX Pro 6000, which is limited to just 28Gbps when overclocking without Hydra.
The more impactful and easier upgrade to enjoy with this new release, though, is a higher power limit. This is a quick set-it-and-forget-it option that lets you jack up the power the card can draw. If its chip and memory have more headroom, it’ll automatically overclock with the extra power to spare. Heat and power draw go up, as you might expect, but it’s a simple way to give the card more juice.
And now Hydra lets you boost RTX 50-series cards up to 125% of their base, though the specific range will still depend on the graphics card. It also improves RTX-Tuner with different options, though the developer warns there are potential dangers in playing around with those values.
What’s doubly great about this is that it doesn’t require any kind of BIOS flash. You just download the Hydra update, and it’s there; you can start playing with power limits right away.
You do need to be a member of Bubliy’s Patreon to get early access, but it’s $5 a month, and you don’t need to keep it going after you’ve downloaded it- unless you want ongoing updates.
