Is Grokipedia Already Dead? It Hasn’t Reviewed Edits Since April

Grokipedia, xAI’s encyclopedia meant to compete with Wikipedia, has not updated any articles or addressed submitted corrections since April this year. Researchers Renée DiResta and Ronald Robertson reviewed activity across 34,519 pages containing 225,496 edit requests. They found no changes after April 24 and no approval or rejection decisions after April 25. The site is still online, and people can submit edits, but it seems the corrections aren’t happening anymore.

Grokipedia lists 13,002 proposed edits as “in review,” with none resolved. Human contributors kept sending corrections after the freeze, at 216 each week, but nothing happened. Before late April, Grokipedia processed requests pretty quickly, with a median time of just 3 minutes. But the automated editors had already reduced activity from March to mid-April.

The review found issues with Grokipedia’s records. A March 14 update seems to have broken the links between edit proposals and the referenced text. Some changes that earlier records treated as accepted later appeared as rejected because the relevant text could not be found. Its live-edit feed had also stopped working sometime between mid-January and early March. All this made it harder for readers to trace their submitted corrections and check outcomes.

That said, the findings are insufficient to prove that xAI has permanently closed Grokipedia or abandoned the project. They do, however, support a probable conclusion: the service has been frozen as a reference source for over three months.

xAI has not publicly explained the lack of activity. And all this matters because Grokipedia still gets decent traffic, 6.7 million visits in June 2026, and may appear in answers from other AI services.
