Ordering Takeout Could Soon Be as Easy as Asking Google Maps

Google Maps could soon let you order food directly through its new Ask Maps feature. Android Authority’s latest teardown of Maps for Android reveals new text mentioning the ability to ask Maps to order food. If it signals an upcoming feature, it would add to Google’s existing food-ordering features in Search and Maps, where users can view menus, choose delivery services, and pay through Google Wallet.

Using Gemini integration, Ask Maps currently lets you ask conversational questions about where to eat. But these new code snippets suggest that Google hopes to turn those queries into fulfilled orders.

If the feature rolls out to the public, you might tell Maps what you’re craving, where you are, and when you want to pick it up so that Gemini could select a nearby restaurant, fill the cart, and guide you to the location. But this is all early and experimental, and Google has not given any official timeline, region list, or implementation details.
