Samsung’s Fold 8 Preorders Are Outpacing Last Year’s Fold 7 by 5x
Samsung says its latest foldables have gotten off to a strong start in India, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 reaching 271,000 preorders in 72 hours. Samsung also says 45% of those orders came from “tier 2” cities and beyond, demonstrating impressive demand outside of major metropolitan areas.
The company says the new lineup’s preorder count matches the volume achieved by last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its siblings within 15 days. Samsung’s India leadership linked the result to growing interest in premium devices across more cities and to the company’s foldable strategy in the country, as reported by GSMArena.
Foldables remain a niche category in India. The mix of metro and non-metro orders also points to growing interest outside the company’s usual urban strongholds, even during RAMageddon.
