watchOS 27 beta 2 now available for Apple Watch Ultra 3

Developers with an Apple Watch Ultra 3 can now install the second developer beta of watchOS 27, which offers access to Siri AI and an improved Workout Buddy.

On June 23, Apple deployed watchOS 27 beta 2, making it available to all compatible models, with the exception of the Apple Watch Ultra 3. At the time, Apple’s newest and most expensive smartwatch was left unable to run the software.

On Thursday, however, Apple finally addressed the issue, as the Apple Watch Ultra 3 can now finally be upgraded to the second developer beta of watchOS 27.

The beta software update can be installed via the Apple Watch app on a paired iPhone. If you plan to install watchOS 27 on your Apple Watch Ultra 3, the device must be connected to Wi-Fi, on its charger, with a battery that’s at least 50% charged.

Among other things, watchOS 27 offers access to the long-awaited Siri AI, but it’s not a good idea for the average user to install Thursday’s developer beta.

watchOS 27 is still early in the beta testing cycle, meaning there’s always a chance of encountering visual glitches, bugs, or features that don’t work like they’re supposed to. Installing the watchOS 27 beta is thus not advisable for mission-critical devices.

For a typical Apple Watch user, the best option is to just wait a few months. Apple will release watchOS 27 to the general public in September 2026, alongside the corresponding iOS 27 update.
